Recommended zinc coating for different scenarios

  • Construction: Z180-Z275. For roofs/walls/light steel structures, high zinc coating provides long-term corrosion protection, with a lifespan of 20 years or more.
  • Appliance housings: Z60-Z120. Such as refrigerators/air conditioners/washing machines. Low corrosion risk in indoor environments. Appliance lifespans are typically 10-15 years.
  • Automotive parts: Z90-Z150. Interior trim/non-load-bearing structural parts meet the manufacturer’s 5-8 year corrosion protection requirements. This zinc coating does not interfere with resistance welding.
  • Cable trays/electrical cabinets: Z120-Z200. Industrial environments present a risk of electrochemical corrosion.
  • Agricultural equipment: Z200-Z350. For granaries/farm machinery housings exposed to corrosive media such as fertilizers and organic acids, zinc-aluminum-magnesium plating with passivation treatment can be used to further enhance corrosion resistance.
  • Color-coated substrate: Z60-Z100, which needs to be coated or painted later. Too thick a zinc layer can easily cause the coating to fall off, and high coating uniformity is required.

To ensure that DC01 galvanized steel coils meet international quality standards, Wanzhi Steel implements the following rigorous quality inspection procedures: Checking the chemical composition of DC01 cold-rolled steel coils, zinc ingot testing, zinc layer weight, uniformity, and adhesion, and ensuring the absence of surface defects, zinc slag, and scratches. Mechanical tests include tensile testing, hardness testing, and cupping testing. Salt spray testing and damp heat testing are also performed for corrosion resistance. After assembly, dimensional and visual inspections are conducted, including thickness, width, coil weight, and the absence of zinc particles, zinc dust, roller marks, and edge burrs and cracks.
